Cécile McLorin Salvant
“With three GRAMMYs® and a MacArthur 'Genius' Award to her name, Salvant has already far transcended her early status as her generation's most imaginative and thrilling jazz interpreter.”—Spin
My compositions are, I would say, like pages ripped from a diary that I don't really want to share, but that I almost feel the need to share. It's a way for me to get things out that I can't get out in life, you know, in real regular conversation with people.Cécile McLorin Salvant

Reveling in the connections between vaudeville, blues, jazz, baroque, and traditional folk music, singer and composer Cécile McLorin Salvant bridges the gap between our musical past and present. Featuring imaginative interpretations of standards and original works, “her live shows are absolutely electric, full of drama, invention, and commitment to the music” — BBC Radio 3.
Born in Monastir, Tunisia, her family traveled through Africa. They also lived in Cuba, South America and spent time in France. A childhood always on the move.
With roots in Miami and an educational background in French law and music in France, Salvant's latest project, Ogresse, is a genre-blending cantata poised to become an animated film. Her continued critical acclaim underscores her place as one of today's most compelling singers.
